About Us
Welcome to Shadyside Lounge, a rustic neighborhood Mexican joint. The vision of bringing local culture back to the West Shore was brought to life in November 2023 by Scott Zumwalt, Doug Hartline, and Carmine Bove. Tahoe City was in need of a Mexican restaurant, craft cocktail bar, and sports hub, all of which Shadyside has fulfilled. The inspired Mexican cuisine was created with locals in mind. With plenty of shareable options for folks looking to enjoy the laid-back space and watch their favorite team, and a few specialty items for those more culinarily interested, Shadyside has something for everybody. Margaritas made with fresh-squeezed juice, house barrel-aged manhattans, and unique twists on fan favorites, Shadyside’s bar has become the gathering place for people with all tastes.
Awarded Best New Restaurant in Tahoe by the Sierra Sun in 2024.
The space of Shadyside was once a market (yes, a market next to a market!). Opened by Henry in the 80s, he ran it with the same passion for the West Shore that our team embodies now. Then, a cal trans office, and vacant for the last 10 years, construction started in 2021. Doug Hartline, of Hartline Construction, worked with local carpenters to source meaningful materials. Some 70% of the wood used inside the restaurant was recovered from the Camp Fires in Paradise, CA. The signature curved bar is a staple in the space. During construction, Hartline and team soaked the wood for the bar in Lake Tahoe to soften and prep it to bend into the welcoming shape we see today. This space was built with Tahoe and our incredible locals in mind.
We hope you enjoy your time here!
